Nestled along the banks of the Yellowstone River, Hysham is the definition of small town that captures the essence of Big Sky Country. Hysham, began as a humble railroad town in the late 1800s. The town's growth was fueled by the fertile soil of the Yellowstone Valley, which transformed it into a thriving agricultural community. Today, Hysham stands as a perfect blend of pastoral beauty and small-town warmth, surrounded by sprawling ranches and golden wheat fields.

The Yucca Theater was built in 1931 by brothers David and Jim Manning and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. After years of non-use, the theater was renovated back to its original look. The entire building consists of the theater in the front and the previous residence of the Mannings in the rear. The architectural style is very unusual for Montana. David Manning designed the theater to look like the buildings he had seen in the southwest. The back of the building houses a display of antique dresses, uniforms and equipment from Treasure County veterans of World War II and items of local family history. Plays and other entertainment are scheduled throughout the year. The theater is open upon request to visitors of the Treasure County Museum.
